Behind the scenes after the final curtain call...

YOUR VERDICT: Joseph

joseph-and-the-amazing-technicolor-dreamcoat_000856_MainPicture.jpg"J-J-J-Joseph... you know what they say..."

No, we don't actually. Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat has been running with Lee Mead as the lead for a long time now and we want to know what you, the theatre-goers think!

Did the main man blow your mind more than a rainbow giving birth to smarties? Were you disappointed? Did the sheep make you laugh? Post your thoughts and opinions in our comments section. We may even choose them to appear on the main Seatwave site! Go on - give Lee Mead and his rear of the year a boost. (Not that his butocks need it...)

I COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT To quote from another brilliant musical, I literally could have danced all night after seeing Joseph on 4th September. I could have sung the night away as well! If there are any prices for making people happy, it should go to this amazing show and to every one of those involved. To those who dismiss the show as a piece of fluff or a cheesy show, I say “Get over yourself”. The main purpose of a theatre production must be to engage the audience, either by making one think and ponder, feel and bond, laugh and cry. A production which does all this, and how!!, deserves all the praise it gets. Any show that gets you on your feet, singing and clapping, that releases a 20 year old soul trapped in a middle aged body like mine, is certainly up there with the best. When the show started, we were all going into not only the Joseph zone, but also THE LEE ZONE. There was all the trappings,- the multicoloured coat, the loincloth, the glittering cast and costumes, all through which Lee’s talent and presence shone so brilliantly. His beautiful, strong, true and clear voice enveloped us all, like a caress. Oh boy, can he sing! I will not leave out the rest of the cast,- the lovely children with their shining, lovely faces, The Narrator who this night was Fiona Reyes,- the brothers, who can outsing and outdance anyone,-Dean Collinson who’s Song of the King was a stroke of genius. For someone who had never seen the show before, it was quiet a revelation. The fast pace and the changing of musical genre really worked. It kept you on your toes and had you wondering what was coming next. To me the Potiphar setting with Art Deco touches was one of the best. As I said at the beginning, the show made me both laugh and cry. The latter happened when Joseph and his father was reunited. Joseph was holding his father and singing softly, so softly “Any Dream Will Do” and suddenly the lyrics made perfect sense to me. A lump in my throat became tears in my eyes, and quiet unashamedly I let them fall. It was a beautiful and poignant scene. With the rest of the audience I was on my feet, singing and clapping at the end, and I’m sure everybody felt like me:” I wish it could go on forever”. But that is part of the magic,- that it comes to an end. I cannot close this without saying that Lee fulfilled all the hopes I had for him. His voice is so strong and beautiful, and obviously getting better and better. His looks certainly get no complaints from me, and that mega smile is still breaking hearts every day. Being one of the lucky ones having a photograph signed by Lee afterwards, I felt on such a high. One of my best theatre experiences ever. I am so glad I am coming back to see it again.. .

What a great review Eva, glad you enjoyed yourself so much. I went in October. I knew what to expect as I have seen Touring Jo twice, once in 2004 with Lee as the Pharoah and once this year. I was not disappointed. The show was superb and immensely funny. Lee was marvellous, he interacts with the cast well and his singing is tremendous. When he sang Close Every Door again at the end it was so beautiful to listen to. Dean Collinson is excellent. When I went Preeya was the Narrator. She seems to have mixed reviews but I liked her. Let's not forget the rest of the cast who also deserve praise for the parts they played. The Megamix at the end always makes me want to get in the aisles and dance. I could not this time though as I was in the middle of a row. Such an enjoyable show, can't wait to go again. My advice - go and see this wonderful show. It is such fun. If you want something serious though you are best to stick to something like Les Mis or Phantom rather than go to Joseph and then blame the cast afterwards if you don't enjoy it.

Not having seen the show before I wasn't sure what to expect except for some great singing from Lee. It was GREAT! Colourful, catchy tunes and very, very funny too as well as sad at times. The singing was superb and Lee was simply the best. All the cast were on top form and seemed to be having a ball but the biggest smiles came from Lee during the show and from the audience afterwards. Must go again as I missed loads. A special mention must be made for the singing camel and snake. I loved them!!

Never before have I seen such an amazing show as Joseph starring Lee Mead. Having seen Any Dream Will Do I had high expectations of his performance and was not disappointed. When Lee first appeared on stage, there was a huge response from the audience to his dazzling smile and obvious joy at being the people's Joseph. The show filled me with so many differen emotions that I felt quite exhausted but uplifted when I left the theatre. I had hoped for a good night of entertainment and that's exactly what Lee provided with his brilliant vocals, acting ability and dancing skills. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be a part of a very special evening.

Hi! I loved the show, everytime i hear those songs, whether on the tv or on youtube it sends chills down my back! he was awesome! I mean no disrespect though to donovan, schofield, or osmond they were great too, but i wish there was a cast recording, the whole group are fantastic and they can only shine on the stage. when will they stop living in the past ans bring us the cast recording we are all waiting for!! Think of all the money missed out for Children In Need by not releasing a new one! Well done Lee you are a well deserved Joseph! Keep it up xx

Hi! I just had to say how BRILLIANT you were in the show! You were great! Anyway, I go to a choir club at my secondary school in hertfordshire (I'm in year 7) and we sing all of the songs from joseph all of the time. they're so catchy, arent they! For about three weeks after seeing joseph I was singing them in the shower and humming them in lessons! Anyway, what do you think of the songs? When we were on our way to London to see the show, my mum kept worrying that you wouldn't be there, and that a cover-actor (please don't hesitate to correct me if i'm wrong, i don't get to go to the theatre often!) would be there instead. Luckily, though things turned out fine:) I thought the songs were so amazing(especially "Close every door to me")- You were the best! The Pharoah was really funny too (who couldn't resist laughing at him!!!)but my favorite part by far had to be the part when you sung: "don't rely on all I've said, it's just, i've not been wrong before" And the (slightly fat!)baker passed out. it was spectacular when you came down from the clouds at the start! Good luck in the future with everything and, once more, you were absolutely amazing! And if anyone was thinking of going then BOOK NOW because it was truly a night to remember for ever! PS: I heard that you are going to finish in October, is that true? Thanks For such a brilliant night!
