Michael Ball shows his feminine side

Give a man the chance to don a dress and a pair of stockings and they'll usually jump at the chance. Michael Ball is the latest actor to gender swap on stage - something tells us this is going to be a cracker.
From October 11th onwards, Ball will become Edna Turnblad in the musical Hairspray. The Shaftesbury Theatre won't know what's hit it. It's a far cry from his current role in the London Coliseum’s production of Kismet. A bit of variety is good for the soul though (gawd knows his CV doesn't need plumping). Ball is a theatreland great with experience in some of the biggest shows in history.
Hairspray was a mass hit on Broadway and is based on John Waters' 1988 film. The story is set in the 60s and with that era comes big hair. The big girl with the bigger barnet is Tracey - a teenager with a love for dance and the ambition to win a talent contest and the affection of teenage star (and hottie) Link Larkin.
What a laugh - the bossy Buxom Ball is sure to shine.

WELL WHAT A PITY MY 25 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER KRISTEN DID NOT GET A PART IN 'HAIR SPRAY' NOT ONLY DID SHE GET CALLED BACK 3 TIMES FOR AUDITIONS SHE IS MULTI TALENTED AND I COULD HAVE MET MICHAEL BALL OH BLOODY EL' I AM GUTTED TWICE

I lost count of the number of times my daughter was called back for audition but it was all worth it, she is in the show!
Hairspray is a fantastic feelgood musical and every one should go and see it. Long may it run.
