VIDEO: Spamalot Coconut Orchestra

We came, we saw and we broke the Spamalot Guinness World Record!
Should we make it a yearly St George's Day London tradition? Now THAT is the question... sign our seatwave petition at the bottom of this article and make it happen!
Strange things happen on London's Trafalgar Square... but the world record attempt for the biggest coconut orchestra has to top them all. When we heard about the Mayor of London's latest St George's Day celebration plans, we knew we had to be there. Someone had to catch this Monty Python spectacle on film, and while the rest of London bashed their nuts together, we planned to capture every last second.
They warned us about the crowds, and we knew the coconut shells would flow freely - but nothing could have prepared us for the gigantic pink foot floating above our heads. Nothing cracks a smile like a good dose of Monty Python... and it looks like the Mayor even has a sense of humour. People were smiling and when Ken took to the stage, he only suffered from a few magre "boos". People were just too busy smacking their nuts to pay him too much attention. But, as our host for the evening reminded us... we weren't just there to make a noise. There was a world record to break - and the cast of Spamalot were there to instruct us...
"Always look on the bright side of life... do do do do do doop".
The former record holder was New York, where 1,785 people took part in a similar event last year, they expected at least 2,000 people in London but got a whopping 4,382. People came dressed as knights and held their coconut halves high. We sang, danced, had an impromptu coconut mexican wave and above all, had a damn fine time. For those of you who missed the orchestra in favour of the Spiderman III premiere - shame on you. Kirstin Dunst may have nice pins, but nothing beats a bit of post-work-Python. If this is all sounding a little too strange, take a look at the video... the proof is in the clip-clopping.
We're after your Spamalot/Monty Python memories, photos and reviews! What's your favourite Python sketch? Who was your favourite actor? In the TV and/or the stage show...
Do you think the Coconut Orchestra should be a yearly St George's Day tradition? Post a comment in the section below and we'll forward to Ken and try to make it HAPPEN!

YES YES YES... make it a tradition! I have never seen so many people smiling in central London... the place was buzzing afterwards.
Maybe the coconut orchestra could be held at a different London location each and every year?? Hyde Park one year, the Southbank the next...
GREAT idea - let's make it HAPPEN.

How about charging £1 (or similar) for the coconuts (or people can use the ones from this year) and the proceeds can go to charity.
I'd go... bring it ON.
As for the best quote? It has to be:
"I fart in your general direction"

Brilliant idea! Love to do the Camelot song too. I managed to irritate everyone on the train coming back by banging my nuts together.
I hope this idea gets off the ground, the very best of luck.

oh yeah we have to do that again every year! Those losers at the spiderman premiere didn't know what they were missing! I was there, and the funniest thing was all of the hundreds of Japanese tourists you usually see in trafalgar square, holding coconuts, smiling nervously and thinking to themselves " ah.. silly english tradition... yes we do to.. ha ha ...". my friends are all really jealous now.
Monty Python 4 eva!
