There are some things in life of which we can be certain. The popularity of a play featuring the West End debut of Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe is one of them. Add award winning actor Richard Griffiths to the mix and you've got a guaranteed hit.
I've been excited about this one for ages... not because I'm a Potter fan (I've seen about half an hour of the first film - that's it) but because the storyline sounds like a corker. Forget 'Pumpernickel' or whatever the big fat guy's name was... The Gielgud Theatre's production of Equus tells the story of a seventeen-year-old boy who blinds his horses. It's heavy and confronting material and a far cry from the broomstick wielding, magic conjuring adventures of Harry Potter. I'm intrigues to see whether Radcliffe bares all and reaches new heights of acting and maturity.
Excitement mounts as the full cast has now been confirmed. Joining Harry Potter's
DANIEL RADCLIFFE (Alan Strang) & RICHARD GRIFFITHS (Martin Dysart) are:
JENNY AGUTTER (Heather Saloman), WILL KEMP (Nugget), JOANNA CHRISTIE, JONATHAN CULLEN, COLIN HAIGH, KAREN MEAGHER, GABRIELLE REIDY, GREIG COOKE, JOEL
CORPUZ, TEMUJIN GILL and JAMI QUARRELL.
Equus opens at the Gielgud
Theatre 27 Feb 2007, following previews from 16 Feb - booking to 9 June 2007.

Oh my God... I saw Radcliffe in The Evening Standard. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.
A bit of time in the gym (and a few years) has done wonders. Lovely. I don't think you'll have to worry too much about screaming minors - it's the older females you're going to have to worry about now!
The play itself sounds fantastic... a heavy story sounds like it should outweight the media hype. Can't wait... as long as I can get my hands on a ***** ticket. Bring on pay day!
