Peter Kay - he's big, he's bold, he's funny as hell and he's due to play Roger DeBris, the gay director from 'The Producers'.
Imagine it... the comedian on stage, camping it up in a world famous musical alongside a buxom blonde, a pair of scheming money makers and a handful of pigeons. Now THAT is a theatre experience worth having. It's even worth making the trip to Manchester to do so.
The chubby (don't you just wanna pinch his red cheeks?) faced comedian has confirmed that he'll join the cast for a 12 week run of 'The Producers' at the Manchester Palace Theatre from February 19 to May 12, 2007.
In an interview with ITV1's Parkinson this weekend, he commented:
"I've always been a huge fan of The Producers, ever since I first saw the film on telly when I was 11. For years I harboured a secret ambition to turn The Producers into a stage musical, even going so far as to write a rough stage adaptation for it in an old school exercise book. Luckily, Mel Brooks beat me to it and created what I think is the funniest musical of all time. So to finally get an opportunity to play a part in a production of it is definitely, for me a real dream come true. I can't wait."
If only Parky would follow his lead and play the role of Franz Liebkind. Now that I'd like to see...
Want tickets? Be quick... I'd offer you mine but these babies are too hot to part with.
